Style tables or shelves is always a common problem our clients come to us with. Design is really all in the details and below we will provide a few tips and tricks for making your coffee table look effortlessly elevated.
When considering the layout of your coffee table, think of the shape like it’s a triangle. We always recommend this as a starting point. Create groupings in three different sections, the three corners of the triangle, to keep it visually interesting and full of dimension while still leaving leftover space for placing drinks and other items while you’re using it.
Start with a large piece or two that will bring visual weight to the table and provide a focal point. Vases, jars, sculptural objects, florals, and greenery can all make great focal points when you’re styling a coffee table.
Variation in height can go a long way in making sure a vignette doesn’t fall flat, especially on a low surface like the coffee table. One great way to bring in more height is by stacking coffee table books on top of one another or placing far-reaching branches in a beautiful vase.
Now it’s time for the fun part, which is adding in all the little objects that you find appealing or sentimental. Add in layers of small objects like coasters, boxes for remotes or decorative objects to bring some personality, texture, and variation to your table or even on top of your coffee table books.
